Somalia Health Ministry and Human Services issue directive requesting Somalia Health sector partners to avoid hosting events related to Somalia which will need Ministry representations in Nairobi due to visa restriction by Kenya government to Somali government officials.
The statement read that, ” due to the recent travel issues to Nairobi, Kenya, the ministry informs all its partners that representatives from Ministry of Health and Human Services will not attend all planned and upcoming workshops, training and seminars to be held in Nairobi.”
“The Ministry highly encourages those meeting to be held inside the country or be moved to alternative countries of ease for Ministry representatives.”
Just last week, Kenya surprised Somalia by denying Somali government officials travelling to Kenya to attend EU meeting entry visas into Kenya despite holding diplomatic passports which normally receive visas on entry ports. Three Somali government official was denied entry into Kenya, while other officials including minister of Health and Human service were to enter with their foreign passports.
