Ethiopia has apologised displaying wrong Aftica Map on its Foreign Ministry Website.
In Statement the Ethiopian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said “We have noticed that a wrong and unacceptable image of the Map of Africa has crept in on the Web site of the Ministry of Foreign of Affairs of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia. Upon becoming aware of the matter, we have immediately removed it from our Website.”
“Please, be assured that Our ICT Team is working to ensure the security of the Website. We sincerely regret any confusion and misunderstanding this incident might have caused.”
The Map displayed on the website erased Somalia and South Africa on the Map of the African continent. It has created uproar on Social Media as many Somalis complained about what they termed an expansionist agenda of Ethiopian.
The map showed Somalia as part of Ethiopia.
Last year, Ethiopian Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed said Ethiopia and Somalia will be united as one country.
Somalia and Ethiopia had fought on the Ogaden region in 1977. Both countries claim the region which is inhabited by Somali as part of their territory.
