37 health workers who were employed by the Ministry of Health in Puntland have been released from duty, a source at Garowe hospital has confirmed the news for GM.
They were accused of lacking ethical work and not able to efficiently provide services to the community. The members of health workers who released from duty were all based in Garowe hospital.
Garowe hospital is the main health service in Garowe and it’s controlled by the government.
Recently, a planned 30 million dollar project for the expansion and rehabilitation of the hospital has been canceled by the German government.
There have also been calls of reform from the new government of Puntland who also recently reduced the number of staff working at the Statehouse. The Office of President has released close to 40 staff who were employed mainly by the previous administration.
It is not clear if the new case is connected to the reform or malpractice at the hospital.
The rate of employment is also very high. according to the United Nations, 68% of youth in Somalia are unemployed.
