A Nigerian Senator, Shehu Sani, has lamented Guinea for its meddling of Somalia-Somaliland affairs after the Republic of Guinea hosted the breakaway republic of Somaliland President who wants to secede from Somalia.
The senator says in a tweet “It is wrong for Guinea or any West African Country to accord any form of recognition to Somaliland or any breakaway part of Somalia. There is only one Somalia that has been our position and should remain unchanged. The Challenges of Somalia is a phase and shall someday be history,”

On the 4th of July, Somalia cut all diplomatic relations with Guinea over Somaliland President’s visit. They called the visit as a threat to national unity and reconciliation.
Somaliland meanwhile responded to Somalia and said that ” the Government of the Republic of Somaliland is deeply alarmed and disheartened by the Government of Somalia’s widening campaign of aggression towards a growing list of African nations.”
There are reports that Somalia received an apology from Guinea over what it called ”lack of good information over the decision of the leader of the Somaliland Administration institution, and that led us to believe that the whole Somali administrations and central government are in good relation.”
